What is Shaolin-Do All About? This is simple! Shaolin-Do is all about YOU! We will use Shaolin-Do to help you improve your life in whatever way you can. When you begin, I assume you are a true beginner. My hope is that you will reach most of your endurance and flexibility goals by the end of your first 12 months of training. This will allow you to really "dig in" in the second year and prepare to become a black belt in the Shaolin-Do art (about 2.5 years). However, black belt is only the beginning in Shaolin-Do. We teach more material from white belt to black belt than most arts teach in their entire system. Yet, the material up to black belt represents only 10% of what I personally teach. Aren't you looking for a fitness activity that will last a lifetime?
Shaolin-Do is unique among martial arts. Most martial arts have turned to the world of organized sports to learn a few tricks. They entice their students with little trophies and a promise of fame. The benefits of martial arts are too important and tremendous to let ourselves fall into this trap. Shaolin-Do seldom holds big competitions and you will rarely hear an instructor even mention them. You will NOT spend class time preparing for competitions. Shaolin-Do teaches traditional fighting techniques that have been unchanged since ancient times and in fact, do not go well with sport-type competitions. The Kung Fu Experience. Kung Fu has an exciting class atmosphere that is always on the move and giving you just the right amount of physical and mental challenge. Our goals in this program are effective self-defense, fitness, flexibility, constant improvement and FUN. The Tai Chi Experience. Tai Chi has a relaxing atmosphere where the focus is always on breathing, balance, posture and releasing tension. You can learn Tai Chi because it feels fantastic or you can learn it for self-defense. |
